Johnny owns a very old turtle. Don’t let that fool you. There’s nothing sluggish or slow about his desire to help youth and young adults experience the fullness and freedom Jesus has for them. He’s fast and furious when it comes to people being set free from addictions, negative self-image, or pain in their life—whether self-inflicted or caused by others. Johnny’s also passionate about being passionate for Jesus. He believes the best way to avoid a life of spiritual apathy is to see just how big, beautiful, capable, forgiving, and good God really is.
Johnny grew up in Columbia, South Carolina. He earned degrees in Bible and youth ministry from Columbia International University and a master’s degree in Christian ministry from North Greenville University. That in hand, perhaps his greatest offering is born out of nearly a decade of putting God’s Word into practice in student ministry and worship. Johnny combines high energy and passionate care in relating God’s Word to the everyday needs and challenges of young people.
Johnny and his wife, Malissa, currently reside in Charleston, South Carolina and are expecting their first child in 2019. Along with his turtle, Johnny has two cats, a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, is a multi-instrument musician, and loves steak … a lot.
