“I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.”
Do you remember “The Great Pause” of 2020? Most assuredly you do. How about the “The Great Pause” of Holy Week? The Scriptures are silent when it comes to Wednesday of Holy Week. Plenty of events before. Plenty after. But on Wednesday, nothing. Crickets. It’s the day in-between. The day when Jesus rested, waited, and contemplated what had occurred, what was happening, and what was about to come.
Now 2000+ years later, what will this Holy Wednesday of waiting hold for you? Will you take a pause, catch your breath, and consider all that God has done, is doing, and will do in the world and in your life? Will you give thanks? Trust His promises? Acknowledge His presence? Will you place your past, present, and future in God’s hands the way Jesus did so many years ago?
We learned a few years ago that pauses provide great opportunity for better perspective, rearranging priorities, rekindling gratitude, and renewing commitments. Why not pause this very special day—this holy Wednesday—and do the same?
Take time to pause today with Jesus. Let His thoughts and presence fill your heart and mind.
And be thankful.
