No Ho-Hum Relationship

You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.”
Revelation 2:3-4

Apathy. Comfort. These things can be big problems in our walks with Christ.

Think about the first time you met a friend. It’s exciting, and you call and text them all the time…. at first. But as time goes by, do you ever find yourself getting a little too comfortable? Maybe you don’t call enough, but you think, “Hey, we’ll still be friends no matter how much work I put into our friendship!”

Sometimes we treat God that way. Our love for Him over time can grow cold. We start to think He is less than He is, so it’s no big deal that we know Him, right?!

Absolutely wrong! I mean, we get to know the Creator of the universe as our personal Lord and Savior. I mean, what?! How awesome is that, brothers and sisters!?

Challenge:
Have you gotten used to God? Talk to Him about it.
How might your comfort be awakened to excitement and awe?
