“For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord,
and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.”
2 Corinthians 4:5
excerpt from Charlie’s recently released book, Mudrunner
The thing is, due to the fall, we have set ourselves up as kings of our own kingdoms. This is true for all of humanity. We love to lead the charge in whatever we do. We like life to go the way we desire, and we get upset when it doesn’t. And as believers, too often we allow that mindset to creep back in. We become stuck focusing on our visible realm, on our needs and our comforts.
But the Scriptures declare a stronger reality: Christ is our life! (Colossians 3:4) We must look beyond ourselves to Christ who is seated above all else in the heavenly places! Our lives been crucified with Christ. It is no longer we who live but Christ who lives in and through us! (Galatians 2:20) We cannot forget: Jesus is King, and His Kingdom is coming from His position of authority in the heavenly realms.
Whenever we go to share our testimony or proclaim the basic message of the gospel, we cannot forget the message that Jesus and His followers proclaimed: the reality of the Kingdom of God. They proclaimed another King besides Caesar, one called Jesus (Acts 17:7), and so must we! Our simple testimonies of transformation declare that Jesus is King because they reveal His power to change lives, to instill peace in all circumstances, and to bring joy beyond measure. Our stories reveal that Jesus is alive, active today, and the one with all authority!
