“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes…
Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
Ephesians 6:10, 17
Awhile back, National Geographic published an article on the Alaskan Moose. One of the most fascinating things about these magnificent (and deadly) animals is the rack growth that occurs from their summer consumption of food. Interestingly, their racks (those giant antlers on the top of their heads) are used in the fall for sparring. Each autumn, as trees shed their leaves and morning frost gives way to daylong bouts of cold weather, bull moose from all over the region show up to display their dominance for the right to mate. Swift and violent blows from their racks display their strength and authority.
National Geographic shared that it was the summer consumption of grasses, shrubs, leaves and bark that was directly correlated to the size and strength of each moose and his set of antlers. In short, the more nutritiously a moose ate in the summer, the better equipped for battle he was in the fall.
Summer is near. Be a Moose! Consume God’s Word to strengthen and prepare you for the challenges, battles, and opportunities ahead!
If the Word of God is the sustenance you need for strength and authority in the days ahead,
how well are you feeding on it? What might you do differently?
Memorize one new scripture this week to use when battle comes your way.
